Fake Plastic Trees

6 March, 002010.

Andheri (W) is a pleasure to visit, once in a while. Much like it's to go to a Circus or a Zoo. There's immense guilt, at seeing caged animals getting slashed or stoned or obey a whipmaster. Though, in confessional mode, there is also the wondrous amazement at seeing wild animals up so close and performing such crazy, hazardous tricks.

I was at this glass building called the Infinity Mall, yesterday. True to its name, infinitely it mauled.... Shops, selling everything from panties to manhood. An atrium stretched higher than the spectacle shops could guarantee hindsight. Frisky security guards, searching for a louder explosive than the speakers that blared behind them. Discounts that could have had God question his own morality.

To cut a very long story short, there was nothing more there than you would not have seen since we've developed a shopping spree. Except for this one sight, which was new. A tree hugging contest sponsored by LG. Life's bitter Gourd.

The competition required for aspirants to literally "hug a tree" placed inside that concrete mall, for as long as their four limbs (and feeble conscience) could adhere on for. Many tried, and all failed. For the tree was made of plastic and unable to support tree huggers for more than sixty seconds. A symbolic tree, made of hazardous plastic, was to be hugged - so that love for the environment could be demonstrated. If that is not moronic irony, then i don't know what else is. Down, slid hundreds of "tree huggers" and fell flat on their arses - much like the idea itself. For the fake plastic tree lacked in both, grip and gumption. The contestant who urinated fastest, won. An LCD TV screen. Liquid Crystal Display - much like the resins of piss that had begun to refract the mall's neon lights for photo-synthesis, from a modern day SEFIROT.

And when the Radioheads sang their song, "Fake Plastic Trees", no one listened.
